How to Like Foods that Are Good for You … But That You Always Insisted You Don’t Like
by www.Sedona.com

Do you loathe Brussel sprouts? Can’t stand broccoli, kale or most things green? Was the last time you tried these “offensive” foods when you were 5-years-old and your mother made you?

Many people blocked enjoyment of healthy foods -- particularly vegetables -- in childhood, and are still trapped in that belief. As a result, you’re missing out on good nutrition for your body along with flavors that you may actually love!

“Most of us have been brought up to believe that our comfort foods are not healthy foods. Often the junkier the food the more we believe it will make us feel good,” says Hale Dwoskin, CEO and director of training of Sedona Training Associates.

“This could not be further from the truth,” he continues. “If you honestly examine your eating habits you will discover that you often feel the best when you are eating a diet that is the most healthful for your body.”

Knowing this and acting on it are two entirely different things, of course.

So how can you get over your aversion to specific healthy foods that you know you should be eating but just can’t seem to actually do?

Stop Resisting Them

Just by the very act of not wanting to eat them, or even thinking you don’t like them, you are subconsciously rejecting them. Everything in your mind is saying ‘no, I simply don’t like spinach,’ so then even if you DO take a bite, you’ll be immediately turned off.

So the moment you find yourself turning up your nose at something healthy, stop resisting by first accepting the feeling, then letting the feeling go. Learning how to dissolve your resistance is a large part of The Sedona Method because once you figure out how to do it your life becomes much easier.

This applies to food as well.

Wouldn’t you like to stop battling your mind about what to eat each day? The struggle over whether to eat chocolate cake or a piece of fruit will suddenly become a moot point when you know how to release. This doesn’t mean that you’ll never enjoy food again … it means that you’ll enjoy all foods, including those that are great for your health.

“No matter what you believe are your comfort foods or your treat foods you can learn to let go of the cravings for what you know is not great for you, along with the fear of not liking something new or that you did not like as child,” Dwoskin says. “Even the feeling ‘I do not like this particular food’ is releasable. This does not mean eating what you do not like but rather as you release you’ll find that you like what you eat.”

It’s all about taking back control of your mind. Next time when you find yourself thinking you hate zucchini, let go of the thought. Then replace it with “I love zucchini” or “I love foods that nourish my body.” This simple change can have a profound impact on the way you feel about food (along with a profound impact on how your kids feel about food).

“The easiest way to release your old feelings about food is to simply welcome how you feel and then let it go as best you can,” Dwoskin says. “The more you release on your diet the more you are likely to select healthier foods and to enjoy whatever you eat more.”
