Headache Pain and Why The Sedona Method May be "Better Than Aspirin"
by www.Sedona.com

Chronic headaches impact about 4 percent to 5 percent of U.S. adults, according to the Mayo Clinic. For some, these headaches can occur daily causing interruptions to work, sleep and the ability to thoroughly enjoy life.

Headaches can be caused by numerous factors, such as certain foods, hormonal changes, eye strain and poor posture, but the vast majority -- experts say about 75 percent to 90 percent -- are caused by tension and stress.

The Sedona Method, a tool that teaches you how to release negative emotions, including those associated with physical pain, works to relieve headache pain in two ways:

  1. It reduces your underlying tension and stress
  2. It helps you to naturally dissolve the feeling of headache pain

“Even physical pain is at least part memory,” says Hale Dwoskin, CEO and director of training of Sedona Training Associates. “That is how we know that a sensation is painful -- by comparing it to other painful feelings from the past.”

“When we allow ourselves to look through the label of pain,” he continues, “we can actually experience the sensations that are here now.”

This is where The Sedona Method comes in. Whenever you feel pain, you simply ask yourself the easy-to-learn questions that make up the Method. As you do so, you will begin to accept the pain, which is a crucial step toward ultimately releasing it.

“If you are willing to welcome these painful sensations along with your desire to change them, they naturally start to dissolve,” Dwoskin says.

This is because the more you resist, fear, or dread your headache pain, the more you are drawing more pain into your experience. Even waking up in the morning and thinking “I hope I don’t get a headache today” could be enough to manifest one in your life.

However, if you wake up and accept what is, without worrying or even thinking about headache pain, you will be prepared to have a pain-free day. If a headache does occur, you can then use The Sedona Method to let go of your feelings about it, along with the actual pain.

“Another thing you can do to clear pain,” Dwoskin says, “is to welcome the sensations you are calling pain and also welcome the part of your body that is not painful. You can even focus on the emptiness or space in which the pain appears.”

“If you go back and forth between welcoming both the sensations and the place without sensations,” he says, “the pain naturally dissolves. Even long-standing pain can be released in this fashion.”
