How The Sedona Method Helps You With
“The Seven Deadly Sins”

Understanding and Overcoming
Laziness and Indifference

by www.Sedona.com

Once in a while nearly everyone likes to spend a day lounging around with nothing in particular to do. But if this desire, or rather lack of desire, becomes the norm, it’s a sign that something’s not quite right.

While laziness is not an illness or a mental illness, it can be a symptom of various diseases including depression, chronic fatigue syndrome or schizophrenia. You may also feel lazy or unmotivated after a period of intense work or stress. In this case it could actually be your body’s way of getting some much-needed rest.

Laziness has also been likened to neurodevelopmental dysfunction, which Mel Levine, M.D., a professor of pediatrics at the University of North Carolina Medical School and author of the book, “The Myth of Laziness,” calls an “output failure.”

According to Levine, while everyone wants to be productive, sometimes our personal output gets interrupted, such as a child who has a language dysfunction and gives up trying to express his thoughts. Similarly, adults may also quit trying if their personal output is interrupted for long enough, and the end result is what modern culture calls “laziness.”

“We become lazy and indifferent when we give up inside,” says Hale Dwoskin, CEO and director of training of Sedona Training Associates. “And when we give up inside we allow the stresses, strains and disappointments of life to get us down.”

The Secret to Overcoming Laziness
If you are acting lazy on the outside, it’s likely because of negative emotions, such as fear, frustration, sadness, shame or lack of self-esteem, on the inside. The key, then, to overcoming laziness lies in addressing those negative emotions.

These feelings do nothing but hold you back, and actually prevent you from living up to your true purpose and life’s potential. Fortunately, letting go of negativity is much easier than it sounds, especially when you learn The Sedona Method. The Method is scientifically proven to help you release negative thoughts and behaviors and, in their place, create a solid, positive mental attitude.

“If life isn't going your way it doesn't mean you should run the other way. It simply means that there are challenges that are presenting themselves in order to be faced,” Dwoskin says. “When you're willing to face your challenges full on, you’ll find the energy you need to deal with whatever life throws your way.”

“If you allow yourself to simply be defeated by life and give in to laziness, you’ll tend to stay in situations that reinforce your feelings of hopelessness and indifference,” he continues. “If you're willing to let go, you can dissolve whatever it is inside of you that is preventing you from fully engaging in life. And as you let go, you’ll find that the laziness dissolves by itself and is replaced by joy, love, caring and enthusiasm.”
