Panic Disorder: What It is and How the Sedona Method Can Help
by www.Sedona.com

Panic disorders impact about one out of every 75 people, according to the American Psychological Association (APA). They can occur for just about any reason, or no reason at all, but most often they pop up when you’re undergoing a stressful life transition such as getting married, graduating from college or having a child.

The most classic sign of a panic disorder is a panic attack. Often these come without any warning whatsoever, yet are fraught with debilitating symptoms like:

  • Trouble breathing and racing heartbeat
  • Terror
  • Dizziness or nausea
  • Trembling and sweating
  • Chest pains
  • Hot flashes or chills
  • Tingling in your fingers and toes
  • Fear that you’re going crazy or are about to die

Even though a panic attack is not inherently dangerous, it can lead you to avoid situations that you fear may trigger one. And since numerous things may trigger a panic attack, the disorder can cause a person to become fearful of even leaving the house. Other conditions that are also linked to panic disorders are:

  • Phobias
  • Depression
  • Substance abuse
  • Suicide
  • Social impairment

Ironically, even if you’ve had one or two panic attacks during your life, there’s no reason to worry, according to the APA. The problems only arise when you begin to constantly fear having another panic attack. This, not the panic attacks themselves, is actually the key symptom of a panic disorder. Your panic attacks may also progress into panic disorder if you begin to have frequent attacks or you change your behavior as a result of them.

Overcoming Panic Disorder by Taking Control of Your Emotions

Panic disorders stem from over-reactive emotions. So if you learn how to calm your nerves in a stressful situation and let go of your fears or expectations of having another panic attack, you’ll be able to remain in control.

The Sedona Method, which teaches you how to release all forms of anxiety, fear and negative emotions, is actually a crucial tool for anyone who has ever had a panic attack or panic disorder.

“Even though The Sedona Method is not a medical tool we have had great success with helping people overcome and let go of panic disorder,” says Hale Dwoskin, CEO and director of training of Sedona Training Associates. “The reason for this is very simple. We do not treat, diagnose or cure the disorder, we deal with what is actually being felt now. By releasing whatever fear or anxiety is being experience now you will find yourself feeling more in control of your emotions and less likely to feel out of control of your world.”

“Each time you do this you find that you feel better immediately and you also find that your general tendency to panic is weakened,” Dwoskin continues. “We have seen many people eliminate all panic and anxiety by taking this simple step-by-step approach. You can too!”
