How to Manage Your Fears and Worries
in Relation to the Presidential Elections

by www.Sedona.com

As the 2008 Presidential election draws nearer, political tensions are reaching an unprecedented high. Gone are the days of spirited discussions about how well the candidates did at the debates, replaced by intense feelings of a looming battle set to explode on November 4.

Amidst all of the hoopla -- the yard signs, the bumper stickers, the politically outspoken person in the office next to yours -- are underlying feelings of anger, fear and anxiety. These strong emotions are being fueled by the downtrodden economy, the failing housing market and the controversial financial bailout plan. There is a sense among Americans that something has got to change, yet we are thoroughly divided on what that something is, and who the right candidate is to take the lead.

The trouble is, only one candidate will win. And if you feel that the only way life as you know it will be able to continue is if YOUR candidate wins, you have a 50-50 chance (or close to it according to polls) of being sorely disappointed. Hence the fearful and sometimes desperate tone that this year’s election has taken.

There is a real sense of worry that bad things will happen to people, children and the country as a whole if the other side gets elected.

“Politics, especially this year, are highly charged. Most of us felt this was an extremely important election even before the financial markets started to melt down. Now even more we are having our political feelings heightened by what is going on with the economy,” says Hale Dwoskin, CEO and director of training of Sedona Training Associates.

How to Feel OK No Matter Who Wins the Election

At the heart of many people’s fear is what will happen if their candidate does not win. As hard as it may be to stomach, you need to accept this as a reality and move to a place of inner peace and knowing that you and your family will be OK no matter what.

As you release your fears and anger about the election, you can still participate and voice your opinion, but you will do so from a place of confidence and positive change instead of fear and negativity.

“The best thing to do about politics is to participate fully and release on all of the feelings you have about the candidates and their policies as well as how the people around you are planning to vote,” says Dwoskin. “The more released you are the better you will feel and the more effective you will be at supporting the candidate of your choice. You will also feel a lot better about your friends and relatives who may not share your point of view.”

If you have any fears related to the election, it is so essential that you learn The Sedona Method now in order to protect your own well-being and your relationships with those from across the political divide. As you get into The Method, one of the most important skills you will learn is Holistic Releasing.

“One very powerful yet challenging way to release on politics is to use Holistic Releasing. Allow yourself to dislike or hate the opposing side as much as you do and then love or like them as best you can,” Dwoskin says. “By doing this back and forth several times you will find that your hate dissolves and is replaced by more love and acceptance.”

“Also, remember to be for your candidate as opposed to being anti his or her opponent. When you are for your candidate, you support your candidate. When you are anti the opposition, you actually unconsciously support what you don’t want without realizing it,” he continues.

With Holistic Releasing you’ll learn how to accept both Presidential candidates and also how to simultaneously let them go. This is the key to maintaining your positive attitude no matter how the election turns out.

“Remember you can love someone and still disagree and work against that particular cause or point of view without inner stress, resistance or opposition,” Dwoskin says.
