Dealing with the Complicated Emotions of Unwanted Pregnancy
by www.Sedona.com

About half of all pregnancies in the United States are unintended, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). This means they were either mistimed or unwanted altogether.

So facing an unwanted pregnancy is quite common. A study by the Guttmacher Institute in New York even found that 28 million U.S. women are at risk for an unintended pregnancy, largely because of inconsistent contraception use.

That it is common makes it no easier for those involved, however.

“Dealing with an unwanted pregnancy can bring up many issues for both partners,” says Hale Dwoskin, CEO and director of training of Sedona Training Associates. “In addition to religious or moral concerns there are often deep concerns about either or both partner’s readiness to be a parent or to care for another child.”

When faced with an unwanted pregnancy, you and your partner have three options:

  1. Have the baby and raise the child.
  2. Have the baby and give it up for adoption.
  3. End the pregnancy.

Each choice will undoubtedly bring up a myriad of emotions in you ranging from fear and anxiety to guilt and insecurity. It may help to ask yourself these important questions, suggests Planned Parenthood:

  • Which choice(s) could I live with?
  • Which choice(s) would be impossible for me?
  • How would each choice affect my everyday life?
  • What would each choice mean to the people closest to me?
  • What are my plans for the future?
  • What are my spiritual and moral beliefs?
  • What do I believe is best for me in the long run?
  • What can I afford?

A Simple Way to Help You Make the Right Decision

Usually the times when we need to make some of the most important decisions in our lives are also times when we feel extremely emotional. And these emotions can cloud our judgment, making it near impossible to think clearly.

This is why The Sedona Method is essential for anyone dealing with an unwanted pregnancy (or who has dealt with one in the past). The Method shows you how to release -- your fears, your guilt, your apprehension -- so that all that’s left is your inner knowingness, guiding you through. Many people have reported making better decisions from the first day they started using The Sedona Method.

“Your feelings can be addressed quite naturally by welcoming them directly and then letting them go,” Dwoskin says. “Another useful tool is using the advantages and disadvantages process of The Sedona Method to make a clear decision. If you are going to do advantage/disadvantage make sure you do this releasing on both keeping the child and on not going through with the pregnancy. We are not endorsing any particular outcome we are simply giving you some options to get clear within yourself that whatever you choose will be best for all involved.”

The advantages/disadvantages process is so effective because it helps you uncover areas where you’re confused or stuck, and then subsequently let them go. The process, which is explained in detail in The Sedona Method course, guides you into just the right amount of focused releasing, which allows you to shift your recurring thought patterns and behaviors into something more productive.

The end result is an intense knowing that you have made the right decision and an ability to move forward in peace with your life.
