What Are You Interested In?

by Hale Dwoskin

Lester Levenson“Now, the most important thing in quieting the mind is interest. When you are very interested in something, you’ll override all other thoughts. Likewise, if, with intense interest, you want to know, “What am I? What is this world? What is my relationship to it?” If there’s a real burning desire to get the answer, then all other thoughts drop away, and the mind becomes extremely concentrated. Then the answer shows itself. It comes from within. The answer is there all the time. The quieting of the thoughts allows us to see it, to see the answer that was there all the time, in the realm of knowingness, in the Self…”

–         Lester Levenson, Happiness Is Free and It’s Easier Than You Think, Book 2 of 5, Session 4

At this time of year we are often interested in making New Year’s resolutions in order to have a more of what we are most interested in this year.

What are you interested in? Allow yourself to explore your interests and do your best to be a little more interested in that which is real and changeless than you are in getting the next thing in life or avoiding what appears to be painful. The more you reinforce your interest in the truth of who or what you are the quicker the direct experience of the truth of what you are presents itself to itself.

To do anything effectively it requires concentration. Wherever you are succeeding in life it is due, at least in part, to your ability to concentrate on the goal. Allow yourself as best you can to spend a little more time every day concentrating on the goal of Absolute Freedom and Unbounded Joy. The more you make that your priority the more you will succeed in achieving the Ultimate Goal.

Make this the year to be more interested in Total Freedom!

Happy New Year!
