“Happiness Is the Truth”

These words from the Pharrell Williams song, “Happy,” can point you toward discovering the truth of who or what you are.

 

We live our lives as though if we could have, be, or do more, then sometime in the future we would be happy. When we live our lives based on this misconception, we obscure what is obvious. Happiness is our basic nature.

As you explore this for yourself, you will discover that when you appear to get happiness from outside yourself, it is just a trick of the mind to keep you looking away from the happiness that is already right here, right now.

You can explore this in two ways. One, simply catch yourself when you are postponing happiness “until” or, two, think of those things you believe you need to have, be, or do in order to be happy. Then follow this simple exploration. “In this moment can I allow myself to give myself the happiness I think I will get from that person, place, or thing directly?” You will discover you can give yourself unlimited happiness now.

Once you start to discover you can give yourself happiness directly, two things happen. You see that you do not need to wait to be happy, because it is just a choice right now. You also discover that it is actually easier to get whatever it is you would like from life if you allow yourself to be happy first—even before you achieve that goal.

As you dig even deeper you will start to discover the reason you can give yourself happiness is because there is no separation between you and happiness itself. You are the happiness you have been seeking from outside of yourself. You can deepen this exploration by asking yourself: “Could I allow myself to fully welcome or rest as the happiness that I am?”

Another great pointer in Pharrell’s song is: “…You feel like a room without a roof…”

When we are truly happy, we feel like there are no limits except the ones that we are imposing on ourselves. We live life from a much more vertical perspective where even the sky is not a limit. You have probably already noticed that whenever you let go, you feel a little or a lot happier. You are letting go of the barriers you have erected in your own consciousness to experiencing and living as happiness, peace, and joy.

As you explore this on your own, you’ll feel like your heart is dancing like the people in the Pharrell video.

The Ocean of Beingness, Awareness and Love

Most of the time we go from experience to experience missing the essential nature of every experience. Because we have missed the richness and beauty that lies at the heart of every experience, we feel empty inside and mistakenly believe that if we simply change what we are experiencing all will be well again.

When we focus on fixing or changing our experience we only feel more isolated and our experiences feel less satisfying. This causes us to crave more and better experiences which simply reinforces the same feeling of lack and incompleteness. There is no satisfaction in any external experience in and of itself.

When we allow ourselves to look beyond the experience of the moment into its essence we discover an aliveness, peace, and joy that is indescribable.

This is because we are actually touching the very nature of experience which is the bridge beyond mere experiencing.

This changeless essence in every experience is Beingness, Awareness, and Love.

This may not seem obvious at first, however if we pay attention we can look through the experience to this pure Beingness/Awareness/Love that is always right here right now no matter what is being experienced.

The more we simply welcome, allow, or simply give our loving attention to this the more obvious this becomes and the more we are drawn into this beautiful heart of All.

Please do not take my word for this. Simply pay attention to this in your life and allow its magic to unfold within you.

Opening to Light

We live in a world of our own imagination.

We believe that we are a body in a world that is separate and hostile to us.

We have forgotten that all we experience is as real as the dreams we had last night. And just like in last night’s dreams, the everyday world and everyone living in it are contained in our own consciousness.

If we are interested in being fully alive as opposed to living in the waking dream, it is important to discover that all we experience is merely the surface of the mind. And for most of us, the surface of our minds are quite turbulent with trial and tribulation — even when things appear to be going our way.

A great way to discover that we are not as limited to or bound by this dream as we appear to be is to inquire into its nature. A great question to use for this is simply, “What is beyond?

This question is not only helpful in our awakening from limitation, it is also very helpful in everyday life. Often we take our daily challenges and limiting beliefs about ourselves and what is possible for us at face value. Yet if we simply inquire what is beyond that which is appearing in this moment, our illusions begin to melt in the light of awareness. This helps us to deal with whatever challenge we are facing in this moment with greater ease and clarity.

The question of, “What is beyond?” is also a very powerful contemplation or meditation. It can help you to see through whatever limitation you appear to be experiencing in this moment and see to the living truth that is always right beyond it.

The more you inquire the more you discover all that appeared so real and solid is only an appearance. The One Reality begins to shine through into your waking consciousness.

Explore this question for yourself and discover its power to free you on every level.

Many of us are celebrating the holidays with love, giving, and being with those we care about.

Yet on many levels the world is in a state of high anxiety, stress, and anger due to the recent terrorist attacks across the globe.

It is of course appropriate to protect ourselves and to stop those who mean us harm but that is only the beginning. It is also important to look for long-term solutions to the problems that we’re facing as human beings.

In addition to constructive external action designed to bring about peace and economic prosperity, along with preserving our lovely planet, a shift in attitude is required.

And a great place to start is bringing positive change for ourselves, the people we care about, and the entire human community.

We can do this through the healing power of love

  • Love is seeing the situation from more than our own point of view – love is open-minded.
  • Love is a feeling of I am you and you are me – solidarity.
  • Love is unconditional acceptance.
  • Love is wanting for the other one whatever it is they want for themselves.
  • Love this giving without wanting anything back in return.
  • Love is the cohesive force that holds our world together.
  • Love is the power that we tap when we become forces for good in the world.
  • Love is the universal solvent dissolving hate, pain, fear and separation.

This love is already right within you waiting to be discovered, nurtured and expressed by you. No matter what you are experiencing in this moment the healing power of love can help you to move beyond barriers and discover true lasting solutions on micro and a macro-cosmic levels.

The following process is designed to help you and those you care about liberate the love within your hearts. You can do this with yourself and, especially now, you can do this process with everyone you care about. If you simply ask yourself or ask your peers these questions with an open mind and heart, your inner doors open allowing the light of love to shine both within you, through you and around you.

Answer with a yes. If it feels like a tentative yes, keep asking. You will find the resistance drops with each asking.

  1. Could you allow yourself to welcome any non-love feeling you are experiencing in this moment?
  2. Could you let that feeling go or simply turn it to love as best you can?
  3. Could you allow the healing energy of love to flow from your heart into your body, mind, experience and world as best you can?

Each time you go through these questions, they open you to a deeper and richer experience of the love that is already shining at your core. They will support you in feeling safe and taking courageous and appropriate action.

As a peer to peer release what you do is you simply ask your releasing partner these questions and then allow them to ask you these same questions. As you keep going back and forth you will be supporting each other both in healing and self-empowerment.

I recommend you do this process not just with yourself but with everyone that you know who is willing to go in this direction. Think of family and friends, thinks of circles at work, think of organizations you belong to. You can use this process to create a strong loving community for yourself.

This is not the only solution for effectively dealing with our personal and more universal challenges, but it can be a huge help for everyone.

Peer to Peer Releasing

Guidelines for Peer to Peer Releasing Partnerships

Congratulations on your interest in Peer to Peer Releasing. It is my sincerest wish that you are able to bring this work into your life for yourself and for the people you care about in a meaningful way. These guidelines are meant to support you in making this as easy as possible for you. If you simply allow yourself to have relax and have fun with this it will rock your world. Please share releasing with everyone you know and share your experience below.

• Be there with and for your partners as best you can and allow them to do the same for you.
• Grant your partners their Beingness by allowing them to have their own explorations and experience.
• As you facilitate your partners in releasing, do your best to let go and be as open and present as you can. You will find this happens naturally if you are open to it. Refrain from leading your partners, judging their responses, or giving them advice.
• Refrain from discussing the explorations until you have both completed them and you have spent a few minutes in silence.
• Be sure to validate your partner’s points of view even if these do not agree with your own.
• Please refrain from playing the role of counselor or therapist if you are working with one of your peers. If you are a professional please feel free to incorporate this work into your practice.

If your partner brings up a medical condition that would ordinarily require the care of a trained medical professional, recommend that he or she get whatever professional support is needed in this area. If you are not sure whether your partner truly needs medical support, you can recommend that he or she seek professional medical attention just to be sure.
